Go-Baby-Go is a program that began at the University of Delaware under the direction of Dr. Cole Galloway. The program aims to provide modified, ride-on cars for children with disabilities to increase their independence in moving around and exploring their environments while having fun. The video above explains how the program started.
The West Virginia University Divisions of Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy, along with their students and faculty members, wish to bring this project to West Virginia and its surrounding areas.
"One of the issues in working with children with disabilities is the high cost of equipment designed to allow them independent mobility to explore their environment. Dr. Cole Galloway, neuroscientist and physical therapist at the University of Delaware has sought to make play affordable to children and their families by implementing the “Go Baby Go” program and providing free, public domain access to toy modifications that allow children with disabilities to access their environment. As therapists, we traditionally have thought about teaching children how to learn to move. However, new findings in developmental neuroscience tell us that children also “move to learn”. By providing these mobility supportive toys, we are allowing children with disabilities to explore their environments and support learning. We have been talking about becoming a university participant in the “Go Baby Go” programs for some time and we are excited to have the opportunity to launch the program here at WVU.”

In order to provide this opportunity to children and families at no cost to them, we are asking for your help! Our goal is to raise at least $1,000 to purchase ride on cars. One car is $113 and a modified car is approximately $250.
All proceeds raised through donation, whether small or large, will go towards the WVU Go-Baby-Go project and help make a huge difference in a child’s life in our local community!
Thank you for your donation! Your donation will help cover half of the cost of one ride-on car!
